I’m not a big fan of New Year’s Eve. Not only do the loud bangs from the fireworks that have already been going off for the past few days startle the hell out of the cats – I’m not a fan of loud noises either. Or parties, or making resolutions that’ll be forgotten in a week.
As a grown-ass woman I can fortunately decide myself how I spend the day, and don’t feel the need to go to a party because “that’s what you do” (I think I’ve been to a total of one fun NYE party in my life). Normally I like to reflect on the past year and think about what I want to achieve in the coming year. But I’m honestly a little frazzled after 3 days of going places and doing things, having visitors, what have you. Though each day was lovely, I definitely feel like staying inside and not talking to people today. So I’m eschewing societal norms and watching Bridget Jones’s Diary in my PJs while having a beer. Reflection can wait for a day.
Cheers to you all and may 2019 be full of joy, adventures, compassion and making things happen for ourselves.
