—————————–

Today I witnessed a flock of deer,
wading through the water.
Even though
they could have crossed on land.

Their russet bodies gliding through the fog
antlers majestically reaching heavenwards,
flowing effortlessly
with the tide

There is no question for the deer
of whether they are meant to be here,
now,
wading through the water

They are inevitable.
Timeless.
Unrestrained.

Tomorrow
there will be things to trip over,
things to be late for,
things to worry about,
things that are lost.

And maybe, this will be one of them.

But today
there is only now
and deer
and mist
and stillness
