Substack: Mud and Starlight

Dear readers,

I know I do not update this website very often any more. I am not good at being consistent. But more than that, I find WordPress honestly not the easiest to navigate in terms of finding content that appeals to me and people to connect with. And, perhaps following from that, it’s never been a place in which I find much engagement. Yes, I get likes on everything I post, but comments and discussions are few and far between. I get the impression that people are randomly clicking the like button in hopes of reciprocity or in order for others to follow them – I don’t think there are many actual readers here for me.

Earlier this month I took a free intro course to Substack by writer Beth Kempton, which got me very excited about the platform. I have spent a lot of time over the last few weeks setting up over there and writing some pieces (my quarterly newsletter has now also moved to Substack). It seems like a very nice community full of artistic people and poets. I have found a lot of interesting people to follow and feel like I’m making genuine connections. So, if you are on Substack, or are interested in the platform, please come find me:

I am not abandoning WordPress. I have had this website for so many years by now. But this will no longer be my primary platform to post new work, newsletters, essays, etc.
