Poem: Calamity

Calamity
Is not the big things
Those you live your life for
Dreading

It’s the invisible, unexpected, unmentionable
Out of the corner of your eye
In the beat of silence between one song and the next

Calamity
Is not there in your neatly planned paperwork

It roams the streets at night
Slipping through the unguarded cracks
And fills your house like gas
Waiting to explode
Light a match and

BOOM
